Professional qualification – Teacher of Foreign (English) Literature and the English Language for Lower Secondary Education – can be awarded subject to the election and successful mastery of the elective set of disciplines (with a score of at least 75 points); passing of Pedagogical Practices in Teaching, defense of the Bachelor’s Qualification Work and passing the Comprehensive Final Examination – each with a score of at least 75 points.
Programme learning outcomes
PLO 1. knows the historical stages of the subject area development. PLO 2. knows the patterns of personality development, age characteristics of pupils, their psychology and the specifics of family relationships. PLO 3. knows and understands the principles, forms, contemporary methods, techniques of teaching the subject in general secondary education institutions (basic secondary education level). PLO 4. knows and understands the peculiarities of teaching diverse groups of students, applies the differentiation in learning, organizes the educational process taking into account the special needs of pupils. PLO 5. is able to appreciate diversity and multiculturalism, to use ethical norms, principles of tolerance, dialogue and cooperation as a guidance in their pedagogical activity. PLO 6. is aware of the value of protecting the independence, territorial integrity and democratic system of Ukraine. PLO 7. knows and understands contemporary philological and didactic principles of teaching English and foreign literature, language norms, socio-cultural situation of the English language development, particular features of using language units in a certain context, language discourse of fiction and modernity. PLO 8.knows, understands and shows the ability to implement the theoretical and methodological principles of teaching English and foreign literature in basic secondary school. PLO 9. uses the tools of a democratic state governed by the rule of law in professional and public activitiesю PLO 10. applies international and national standards and experience in professional activities. PLO 11. selects and applies contemporary educational technologies and methods to form subject competencies of pupils and does self-analysis of the effectiveness of lessons. Examination regulations and grading scale
There are provided following forms of control: exams, credits, differentiated credits, current control, attestation (final) exam, defense of the bachelor’s thesis. In accordance with the requirements of ECTS, the final evaluation of learning outcomes is carried out on a unified 100-point scale. To get successful assessment, a student has to achieve the minimum threshold levels of assessment for both each planned learning outcome of the educational component and the educational component in general. There is applied the scale of conformity with grades: Excellent 90-100%; Good 75-89%; Satisfactory 60-74%; Unsatisfactory 0-59%; Credited 60-100%; Not credited 0-59%. In performing all forms of reporting, students must adhere to the standards of academic integrity set forth in the University Community Code of Ethics.
Оbligatory or optional mobility windows (if applicable)
Work placement
It is obligatory to pass two full-time pedagogical internships: Pedagogical Practice in Teaching English and Pedagogical Practice in Teaching Foreign Literature. The bases of the internships are secondary education institutions. There is an opportunity to take internships both in person and via means of distant learning. Prior to the internship, students must successfully master the following disciplines: Methods of Teaching English Language in General Education Schools; Methods of Teaching Foreign Literature in General Education Schools; Innovative Methods of Teaching the English Language in the School of Specialized, Special and Distance Education; Innovative Methods of Teaching Foreign Literature in the School of Specialized, Special and Distance Education.

The bachelor-teacher can work for general secondary education institutions; extracurricular educational institutions for young students, including specific education (primary and specialized in art, sports), for print and electronic media, PR agencies, for various funds, unions, humanitarian foundations, can be engaged in translation activities, can support cultural and artistic activities, organize leisure activities.
Access to further studies
