            1. to know the basic literary theoretical concepts necessary for literary analysis.
2. to use selected literary terms accurately.
3. to complete successfully the courses “Introduction to Literary Studies” and “History of Foreign Literature” (parts 1, 2).
        
    
            Course content
        
        
            The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the theoretical foundations of narratology as a specific branch of philology, with the basic concepts of modern narrative theory, the main features of narrative fiction texts, the principles of narrative construction, and the “general structures” of narratives. The discipline forms the skills of basic narrative analysis, the ability to conduct individual research activities. During the course, students acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of narratology, get acquainted with the leading national and foreign practices of applying the methodology of narratological analysis of literary texts. During seminars and tests, students consolidate their knowledge and skills. is aimed at deepening skills in analyzing literary texts using a set of modern interpretive methodologies.

            Planned learning activities and teaching methods
        
        
            The course includes such learning activities as oral responses, additions, participation in discussions, and a final test (test and analysis of narrative features of a literary work); the following teaching methods are planned: lecture, seminar, preparation of a glossary of terms, and self-study.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            The form of final control is an exam. 
The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of fulfilling the declared types and forms of study, and the points obtained at the exam, the maximum distribution is as follows: 60 points (60%) - semester control and 40 points (40%) - exam). 
Forms of current control include work in practical classes: oral answers, additions, participation in discussions (max 40/min 25 points), preparation of a dictionary of terms (max 5/min 3 points) and writing a final test (max 15/min 8 points). 
Evaluation is based on a 100-point scale: 
90–100 5 Excellent 
75–89 4 Good 
60–74 3 Satisfactory
