Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the basic literary theoretical concepts necessary for literary analysis. 2. To use selected literary terms accurately. 3. To complete successfully the course “Introduction to Literary Studies”.
Course content
The purpose of the course is to familiarize students with the basic theoretical and methodological principles of literary research, as well as to prepare them for writing a qualifying paper in literary studies. The discipline covers the study of traditional and contemporary methods of interpreting a literary text, formulating the purpose, objectives and relevance of the research, and determining the theoretical and methodological basis of the study. Students acquire the skills of processing and abstracting theoretical sources, analyzing literary works, planning the stages of scientific work, which ensures their preparation for writing qualifying papers and carrying out scientific projects in general.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course includes such learning activities as oral responses, additions, participation in discussions, and a final test; the following teaching methods are planned: lecture, seminar, and self-study.
Assessment methods and criteria
The form of final control is a credit. The semester final grade is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of completing the declared types and forms of study. Forms of current control include work in practical classes: oral response, additions, participation in discussions (max 55/min 33 points) and writing a final test (max 45/min 27 points). Evaluation is based on a 100-point scale: 0-59 - failed; 60-100 - passed.
