Prerequisites and co-requisites
Prerequisites and additional requirements are to know the spelling rules of modern Ukrainian literary language, the most important functions of the Ukrainian language in the society; to be able to work analytically with scientific literature; to have basic skills in modelling texts of different genres and styles (oral and written) in accordance with communicative needs and objectives.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to acquaint students, future teachers of Foreign literature and the English language in the secondary school, with legal acts governing the language situation in Ukraine, stylistic specifics of the Ukrainian language system, characteristics of the Ukrainian scientific language, official Ukrainian business language and culture of oral professional communication. The course is aimed at mastering the specifics of the language situation in Ukraine, the main legal documents governing the functioning of languages, styles of Ukrainian literary language, with in-depth study of official business and scientific language potential. The principles of concluding basic business papers, language specifics of terminology and principles of linguistic work with scientific text are considered in detail, emphasis is placed on the culture of oral speech in accordance with professional communicative needs.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Teaching methods consist of lectures, practical classes and students’ self-study.
Training activities include scientific report, text analysis, independent text writing, test paper in the form of tests with different types of questions and tasks, and final test paper in the form of tests with different types of questions and tasks.
Assessment methods and criteria
Final score for the course constitutes a total of points for all forms of control and does not need any additional forms of evaluation.
Forms of the current control include the sum of marks for scientific report (min 10 / max 15 points), text analysis (min 15 / max 20 points), independent text writing (min 15 / max 30 points), test paper in the form of tests with different types of questions and tasks (min 6 / max 10 points), and final test paper in the form of tests with different types of questions and tasks (min 14 / max 25 points).
Students who did not manage to score 60 points during the term have to work for the classes and topics they missed.
