Students get acquainted with the problems of teaching contemporary Anglophone literature in the context of general secondary education. By expanding their own scope of reading, they deepen their knowledge of the current state of development of American literature, improve their skills in analysing the artistic structure of works, as well as teaching methods and the formation of subject competences in students. The considerable attention is paid to the world experience of teaching English literature, in particular, gained by the lecturer during the internship at the University of Seattle in the SUSI Contempory American Literature programme. Students have the opportunity to work with texts in the original, analyse, interpret and discuss them in English. The course provides for the possibility of implementing students' individual educational trajectories by expanding individual reading, as well as preparing and presenting analyses of self-chosen works in the form of a research report

Final score for the course constitutes a total of points for all forms of control and does not need any additional forms of evaluation.
Forms of the current control include the sum of marks for answers at the seminars (min 15 / max 25 points), for individual project creating and presenting (min 6 / max 10 points), for students’ self-study (summarizing scientific articles on literature and methods of teaching; tasks creation) (min 9 / max 15 points), for lessons development (min 12 / max 20), and for final test paper consisting of three open questions (min 18 / max 30 балів).
Students who did not manage to score 60 points during the term have to work for the classes and topics they missed by writing independent individual works.
