            Course content
        
        
            Comprehensive Final Examination in Foreign Literature and the English Language is a complex form of control and final certification of bachelors’ graduates of the Educational Programme “Foreign Literature and the English Language: Theory and Methodology of Teaching”. The exam aims at testing professional knowledge in the subject area. It is designed to finally identify the level of bachelor’s degree graduates proficiency in knowledge of History of Foreign Literature and English as well as of teaching methods of these subjects.

            Comprehensive Final Examination in Foreign Literature and the English Language consists of four stages, each of which is reflected in the corresponding task in the exam card. Task 1 presupposes an oral answer to a given literary topic / problem, which involves the analysis and interpretation of works of fiction. Task 2 presupposes a written translation of the fragment of the scientific or scientific-journalistic style text from English into Ukrainian (it introduces the topic of further discussion), and the actual discussion on current literary and pedagogical topics. Task 3 involves an oral or written answer to a given methods of teaching topic / problem, which involves the demonstration of certain methods and techniques of teaching Foreign Literature. Task 4 involves an oral or written answer to a question on the methods of teaching English.
        
    
            Assessment methods and criteria
        
        
            Assessment of knowledge, which is manifested in four successive stages, is carried out in accordance with the criteria for assessing students’ answers at the Comprehensive Final Examination in Foreign Literature and the English Language. Oral answer to the question on History of Foreign Literature is assessed max 30 points. Translation of a fragment of the text is assessed max 10 points and a discussion is assessed max of 20 points. Oral or written answer to the questions on methods of teaching of Foreign Literature is assessed max 20 points. Oral or written answer to questions on methods of teaching of English is assessed max 20 points.
