Programme learning outcomes
PLO 1. To evaluate one’s own academic and professional activities, and to develop and implement an effective strategy for self-development and professional improvement.
PLO 2. Demonstrate confident command of the national and foreign languages for written and oral communication, particularly in professional and academic contexts; present research findings in the national and foreign languages.
PLO 3. Apply modern methodologies and technologies, particularly information technologies, for the successful and effective performance of professional activities and to ensure the quality of research in the field of Arabic philology.

Examination regulations and grading scale
Assessment:
Formative assessment: oral tests, quizzes, assessment of independent work and presentations.
Module assessment: assessment of knowledge upon completion of individual sections of the syllabus.
End-of-semester assessment: examinations or tests in accordance with the academic calendar. The format (written, oral or combined) is determined by the syllabus.
The forms of final assessment for students include a comprehensive final examination in Arabic language, literature and translation, a comprehensive final examination in a Western European language (French/English) and translation, and the defence of the Master’s thesis.

Work placement
Work Placement (Teaching) practice is a compulsory component. The bases of the practice are the Egyptian Center for Arabic Language and Culture (Arabic), the French Center (French), the Department of Methods of Teaching Ukrainian and Foreign Languages and Literatures of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
Translation and research practices are selective components. The bases of the practices are the Egyptian Center for Arabic Language and Culture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The internship is based on the agreement between Taras Shevchenko National University and Kuwait University "Agreement on scholarly exchange and collaboration" dated September 26, 2013. Students' participation is determined on the basis of their rating success.

Occupational profiles of graduates
Masters of Arts in Philology with proficiency in Arabic and a Western European language (French or English) can work in the academic, literary and publishing, and educational sectors; in teaching, research and administrative roles at higher education institutions; in print and electronic media, internet marketing, PR agencies, various humanitarian-oriented funds, associations and foundations, museums, libraries and archives, arts and cultural centres, etc. Furthermore, knowledge of Arabic and a Western European language (French or English) enables graduates with a Master’s degree in Philology to find employment in a wide variety of economic sectors where services are required for the creation, analysing, translating and evaluating texts in these languages, as well as in travel agencies, international organisations, foreign missions, diplomatic and consular services, regional representative offices, etc.
Access to further studies
They are entitled to continue their studies at the third level of higher education, as well as to acquire additional qualifications within the postgraduate education system.
