Prerequisites and co-requisites
The graduate should know the trends of modern linguistics, communication theory and rhetoric. Fluency in English (level C1) is required for professional argumentation. It is important to be able to apply effective communication strategies, carry out linguistic, stylistic and rhetorical analysis of texts, as well as perform adequate translation of materials of different styles and genres.
Course content
The purpose of the comprehensive qualification exam in English and translation is to verify and evaluate the program learning outcomes, in particular the scientific, theoretical and professional training of students, as well as the level of their professional competence in the following areas: • theoretical foundations of philological knowledge in modern English studies (lexicology, stylistics, grammar, communication theory, rhetoric, text and discourse theory); • translation theory, basic methods of translation analysis, types of translation correspondences and lexical and grammatical techniques in translation.
