Programme learning outcomes
PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, German and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, German and English. PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 16. Know and understand the basic theories and concepts of the chosen philological specialization, be able to apply them in professional activities. PLO 20. Identify the main issues of translation studies disciplines and explain their interconnectedness within a comprehensive knowledge system. PLO 21. Interpret, summarize, annotate, and adequately translate oral and written texts of various styles and genres from German, English, and Ukrainian languages, excluding highly specialized texts. PLO 22. Utilize knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguocultural studies of German- and English-speaking countries to facilitate successful communication and accurate translation. PLO 24. Perform consecutive interpretation from German and English languages and possess the fundamentals of shorthand note-taking for translation purposes. PLO 26. Examination regulations and grading scale
Examinations (written, oral, mixed form, pass-fail), grading tests, presentations, abstracts, reports, certification (final) examination, defence of internship report, defence of qualification (master’s) paper. Scale of grades (examination): 90-100 – excellent; 75-89 – good; 60-74 – satisfactory; 35-59 - unsatisfactory. Scale of grades (pass-fail examination): 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed. Members of the university community rely on the following principles in their activities: - objectivity in the evaluation of students' knowledge, in research work, aсademic and organizational activities related to the awarding of academic degrees; - self-respect and respect for human dignity; - promoting academic integrity in teaching, learning, and research; - copyright and intellectual property rights compliance; - inadmissibility of plagiarism in any form; - openness of research results.

Work placement
The program includes mandatory professional translation internship, lasting for six weeks. Students undergo their internship in institutions, organizations, and enterprises that require translation services from the German language. During the internship, students are expected to acquire professional skills and abilities to independently tackle tasks related to oral or written translation. At the end of the internship, students prepare documentation reports (details can be found in the internship program). The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Siemens Ukraine, Embassies of Germany and Austria, Translatel Ltd, translation bureau L'agensy, LLC "Doctor Bdzilka," translation bureau Admiral, Institute of Geography, International Department of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Goethe-Institut Ukraine, and the Center for German Language of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv are among the institutions where students can undergo their internship.
