Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Throughout the semester, after the lecture sessions on the respective topics, practical classes are held. For each practical session, students prepare their own glossaries, which are assessed according to the general requirements for compiling glossaries, as well as sectoral translations in written form, which are presented orally. Sectoral translation involves a complete translation of a scientific and technical text, demonstrating an understanding of the characteristics of professional language and the ability to achieve professional translation equivalence at the lexical, grammatical, stylistic, and cultural-professional level of intercultural intra-professional communication.
Assessment methods and criteria
The assessment of students includes: - Semester assessment and final examination: - Oral examination on the algorithm of pre-translation analysis; oral examination on the algorithm of comparative-translation analysis - maximum 10 points. - Evaluation of compiled glossaries - maximum 10 points. - Written sectoral translation from source language to target language - maximum 30 points. - Written editing task - maximum 10 points. - Module control work - maximum 20 points. The maximum number of points that can be obtained by a student during the semester is 80 (based on a 100-point scale). During the final examination, the maximum number of points is 20 (for the written task). The final assessment is conducted in the form of a final examination, with a maximum of 20 points.
