Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21. Interpret, summarize, annotate, and adequately translate oral and written texts of various styles and genres from German, English, and Ukrainian languages, excluding highly specialized texts. PLO 23. Demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze the specifics of the communicative situation in translation and its impact on translation decisions. PLO 26. Conduct stylistic editing of Ukrainian texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Introduction to Translation Studies" and "Practical Course of the First Foreign Language," proficiency in German at the B1 level.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to familiarize students with the norms of oral business communication, the structure and formatting rules of various documents in German and Ukrainian, as well as the peculiarities of translating business materials taking into account lexical, grammatical, and pragmatic aspects. It aims to facilitate the practical mastery of the normative basis of German language functioning in communicative and speech situations of business communication. The discipline aims to develop skills in translating business correspondence, letters, negotiation materials, conferences, protocols, etc. It is taught in the 5th semester of the 3rd year with a total workload of 90 hours, including 8 hours of lectures, 32 hours of practical classes, and 50 hours of self-study. The course includes 3 content modules and 2 module-based assessments. Upon completion of the discipline, a credit is awarded.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The study of the discipline includes lectures and practical sessions. During the lectures, students familiarize themselves with the peculiarities of business correspondence in the German language, formatting and translation rules for headings. They learn about the requirements for writing, formatting, and structuring various types of business letters, protocols, statutes, biographies, and job application letters. They also study different types of contracts and their lexical and grammatical features. The practical sessions focus on developing skills in writing, formatting, and translating business letters, contracts, protocols, biographies, job application letters, etc. Students also complete various practical tasks during these sessions.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester grade is determined by the points earned by the student throughout the semester, which includes mastery of the material from all topics of the content module, completion of independent tasks, and performance in module exams. The maximum number of points for the semester is 80. The ongoing assessment (oral questioning in class, evaluation of written homework) accounts for 26 points for the following topics: LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1. The ongoing assessment (completion of tasks for self-study) accounts for 14 points for the same topics: LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1. The module exams (writing module exams) account for 40 points for the following topics: LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2. The final assessment is conducted according to the curriculum in the form of an exam. The exam evaluates the student's performance throughout the semester and includes vocabulary questioning on all course topics.
