PLO 1. Communicate freely on professional issues with experts and non- experts in Ukrainian, German and English, in oral and in written form, use these languages to organize effective cross-cultural communication. PLO 8. Know and understand the system of language, the general properties of literature as the art of word, the history of German language and literature, be able to apply this knowledge in professional activities. PLO 9. Characterize dialect and social varieties of German language, describe the sociolinguistic situation. PLO 11. Know the principles, technologies and techniques of oral and written texts of different genres and styles creation in Ukrainian, German and English. PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Full-time form

Successful mastery of the discipline "Introduction to Linguistics" in the first semester includes acquiring theoretical foundations of English grammar and achieving proficiency in English at the level of "Elementary User."

The aim of the academic discipline is to deepen the practical knowledge of students in phonetics, vocabulary, and grammar of the English language. It also aims to familiarize students with methods of conveying meanings of linguistic units from the original language to the target language based on advanced proficiency in English in all its aspects. Additionally, the discipline aims to enhance students' linguistic and socio-cultural erudition.

Educational activities throughout the semester include: Oral responses during practical sessions Written assessments (phonetic dictation, dictation, translation dictation, etc.) Individual creative assignments (essay, presentation, etc.) Blitz questioning (active vocabulary, sentence translation, oral summarization of a given topic fragment, etc.) Midterm examinations as part of the ongoing assessment.

Semester assessment: - Oral responses during practical sessions: LO 1.1-1.5, 2.1-2.3, 2.5 - up to 12 points (evaluated based on the completeness of the response). - Written assessments (phonetic dictation, dictation, translation dictation, etc.): LO 1.1, 2.1, 2.5 - up to 6 points. - Individual creative assignments (essay, presentation, etc.): LO 2.4 - up to 12 points. - Blitz questioning (active vocabulary, sentence translation, oral summarization of a given topic fragment, etc.): LO 1.4-1.5, LO 2.2 - up to 6 points. - Midterm examinations within the scope of interim control - 24 points. - Final assessment in the form of an exam - 40 points.
