Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyze and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 14. Use German and English in oral and written form, in different genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life. PLO 21. Interpret, summarize, annotate, and adequately translate oral and written texts of various styles and genres from German, English, and Ukrainian languages, excluding highly specialized texts. PLO 23. Demonstrate the ability to identify and analyze the specifics of the communicative situation in translation and its impact on translation decisions. PLO 26. Conduct stylistic editing of Ukrainian texts.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Introduction to Translation Studies" and "Practical Course in the First Foreign Language," as well as proficiency in German at the B1 level.
Course content
The aim of this course is to acquaint students with the norms of oral business communication, the structure and rules for formatting various types of documents in German and Ukrainian, and the specifics of translating business-oriented materials, taking into account the lexical, grammatical, and pragmatic characteristics of their translation. It aims to facilitate students' practical mastery of the normative basis for the functioning of the German language in communicative speech situations of business communication, and to develop skills in translating business correspondence, letters, negotiation materials, conferences, protocols, and so on. This course is taught in the 5th semester of the 3rd year, with a total duration of 90 hours, including: 8 hours of lectures, 32 hours of practical exercises, and 50 hours of independent work. The course includes 3 content modules and 2 module-based control works. After completing the study of the course, a credit is awarded.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The study of this course involves lectures and practical classes. During the lectures, students become acquainted with the peculiarities of correspondence in German, rules for formatting and translating details; the requirements for writing, formatting and structuring different types of business letters, protocols, statutes, biographies, and job application letters; types of contracts and their lexical and grammatical features. In practical classes, students form and develop skills in writing, formatting, and translating business letters, contracts, protocols, biographies, job application letters, etc., and carry out various practical tasks. Independent student work involves preparation for practical classes and performing written tasks (decoding and translating abbreviations used in business German, writing a biography, and a job application letter).
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester point total is made up of the points earned by the student during the assimilation of material from all topics of the content module, completion of independent tasks, and writing of module control works. The maximum number of points for the semester is 80: - Ongoing control (oral questioning during classes, checking of written homework): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1 – 26 points - Ongoing control (completion of tasks for independent work): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 4.1 – 14 points - Module control (writing of module control works): LO 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2 – 40 points The final control is carried out according to the curriculum in the form of a credit test. The credit is awarded based on the student's work throughout the semester and involves a vocabulary survey from all course topics. The maximum number of points a student can earn on the credit test is 20.
