The program is aimed at foreign applicants for higher education

First cycle of Higher Education (NQF Level 6 or higher).
The enrollment is based on academic rights to continue education, as evidenced by a document on the level of education obtained in the country of origin. Competitive selection for the bachelor's degree is based on the results of entrance examinations in the language of study (Russian), results of entrance examinations in specialty discipline and additional entrance examination in case of "cross" admission from one specialty to another.

A professional qualification may be awarded by a separate decision of the examination commission: Translator; Linguist or Higher Education Lecturer (Russian Language). Requirements and rules see in the description of the EP, paragraph 3

PLO 1. To assess individual academic and scientific-professional activity, to build and implement an effective strategy of self-development and professional self-improvement. PLO 2.To demonstrate an adequate level of foreign language mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and scientific communication; to present the results of their studies in the foreign language. PLO 3. To implement the modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a specific philological field. PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically the vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics of their solution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. PLO 5. To find optimal ways of effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize a successful communication. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify various schools and approaches of Linguistic Studies. PLO 8. To assess the historical legacy and new achievements of Literary Studies. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) principles and and applied aspects of Russian language and literature.

Full-time form

The final evaluation of learning outcomes at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is carried out on a single 100-point scale. The assessment of the applicant corresponds to the ratio established of the level of professional and general competencies to the planned learning outcomes (as a percentage). The minimum positive level of assessment is 60 points. According to the results of exams, according to the results of course and diploma works (projects); based on the results of work in practice, the student is also graded on a 4-point scale: “Excellent”, “Good”, “Satisfactory”, “Unsatisfactory”. If the final exam is not conducted in the disciplines, the results of the applicant’s work are evaluated on a 2-point scale: “Passed” or “Fail”.

An obligatory component of the educational programme is a research practice, which is conducted with a break from theoretical training for 6 weeks. The practice is based at the M. Maksymovych Scientific Library of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Students can complete one of the following internships: 1) translation internship (under the elective block "Practical Translation for Students of Russian as a Foreign Language") at one of the international organisations, embassies, higher education institutions or the Confucius Institute of KNUTS; 2) country studies internship (under the elective block "Ukrainian Language"); 3) pedagogical internship (under the elective block "Russian Language in Higher Education Institutions") at the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens of University or another higher education institution. A Master of Philology can work in scientific, publishing, educational fields; in teaching, research, and administrative positions; in educational centers and courses on professional development (philological) skills, correction, language teaching; in print and electronic media, PR- agencies, in various foundations, unions, humanitarian foundations, museums, art and cultural centers, etc., in different spheres of administrative and supporting services, organizing congresses and exhibitions, activities of travel agencies; in different branches of management, which require services of creating, analyzing, translating, editing and evaluating texts.

Graduates can continue education at the third (education-scientific) level of higher education (post-graduate department) undertaking a doctoral program (PhD) in the Subject Area “Philology” and related areas (“Secondary Education”).
