Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements
By decision of the examination board, the qualification may be awarded: 2444.2 Translator (Ukrainian–English), if courses are completed, the thesis is defended, and the internship is completed with a grade of no less than 75 points. By a separate decision: 2444.2 Translator (Ukrainian–German/French/Spanish/Italian/Portuguese), if elective courses are completed, the internship is undertaken, and the final exam in language and translation is passed with a grade of no less than 75 points.
Programme learning outcomes
PLO 1. Evaluate one’s own academic and professional performance, develop and implement effective strategies for self-development and continuous professional improvement.
PLO 2. Demonstrate proficiency in the state language and in English, German / French / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese for oral and written communication, including in professional and academic contexts; present research findings in the state and foreign languages.
PLO 3. Apply modern methodologies and technologies, including information technologies, to ensure effective professional activity and high-quality research in translation studies.
PLO 4. Evaluate and critically analyse socially, personally and professionally significant issues, and propose solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions requiring innovative approaches and forecasting.
PLO 5. Identify optimal strategies for effective interaction within professional teams and with representatives of other professional fields.
PLO 6. Apply knowledge of expressive, emotional and logical linguistic means, as well as speech techniques, to achieve intended pragmatic outcomes and ensure effective communication.
PLO 7. Analyse, compare and classify various linguistic schools and approaches.
PLO 8. Evaluate historical achievements and contemporary developments in literary studies.
PLO 9. Characterise theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, key notions) and applied aspects of translation studies.
PLO 10. Collect and systematise linguistic, literary and folklore data; interpret and translate texts of various styles and genres (depending on the language).
PLO 11. Conduct scholarly analysis of linguistic and literary material, interpret and structure it using appropriate methodological principles, and formulate generalisations based on independently processed data.

Examination regulations and grading scale
Examinations (written, oral, mixed form, pass-fail), grading tests, presentations, abstracts, reports, certification (final) examination, defence of internship report, defence of qualification (master’s) paper.
Scale of grades (examination): 90-100 – excellent; 75-89 – good; 60-74 – satisfactory; 35-59 - unsatisfactory. Scale of grades (pass-fail examination): 60-100 – passed; 0-59 – failed.

Work placement
Production editorial internship lasts six weeks with suspension of theoretical studies (6 ECTS credits). Production translation internship lasts six weeks with suspension of theoretical studies (6 ECTS credits). Production translation internship without suspension of theoretical studies (German / French / Spanish / Italian / Portuguese) (3 ECTS credits). The internships involve performing translation and/or editorial tasks at the host institution (for details, see the internship programs). English-language internships are conducted, including at Ukrainian and foreign publishing houses.

Graduates holding a Master’s degree in Philology may be employed in: literary and publishing sectors; research and academic institutions; educational institutions; print and digital media, including PR and communication fields; cultural organisations, foundations, museums, and art centres; higher education institutions (research and administrative positions); various sectors of the economy requiring translation services, translation project design and management, as well as text creation, editing, analysis and evaluation.
