Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The course comprises two modules. The first module is devoted to the study of professional and corporate ethics within the context of the applied turn in moral theory, including the place of applied and professional ethics within the structure of ethical knowledge, the nature of professional ethics, ethical infrastructure, corporate ethics, and corporate social responsibility. The second module focuses on the socio-normative manifestations of morality in professional fields relevant to the specialization, including pedagogical ethics, university ethics, the ethics of science, and translation ethics. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars, incorporating interactive teaching methods. All learning outcomes are assessed during lectures and seminars throughout the semester. Essays are to be submitted no later than the final lecture week. The course is completed with a pass/fail assessment.
Assessment methods and criteria
The semester grade is based on the student’s mastery of the course material and includes points for in-class work (oral presentations, contributions, participation in discussions during lectures and seminars) and independent work (essays). The total score ranges from 60 to 100 points. In case of absence from a seminar, the student is required to complete assigned tasks in written form. The final number of points (maximum 100) is determined as the sum of points earned for continuous work throughout the semester, including the final assessment task. The pass/fail grade is awarded based on performance throughout the semester and does not involve additional forms of assessment. Students who obtain fewer than 60 points do not receive a pass and are required to complete missed topics in written form and submit them to the instructor. The final grade for the course (60–100 points) is determined by the cumulative results of semester work.
