Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning
Persons who have obtained a bachelor's or master's degree or a specialist's educational qualification level are admitted to study for a master's degree. Competitive selection for obtaining a master's degree is carried out based on the results of entrance tests in the form of: a unified entrance exam in a foreign language (English) in the form of an external independent assessment test; professional entrance test - a professional exam (applied linguistics) held by the University.
Qualification requirements and regulations, including graduation requirements
For the mandatory components of the EP, the professional qualification of editor-translator (English and Russian) can be awarded. The professional qualification of linguist can be awarded after successful completion of the elective block Linguistic Research in Forensic Science / The professional qualification of programmer (applied) can be awarded after successful completion of the elective block Automatic Natural Language Processing (ANLP).
Programme learning outcomes
PLO 1. To assess individual academic and scientific-professional activity, to build and implement an effective strategy of self-development and professional self-improvement.
PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of national and foreign languages ( English) mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in the situations of professional and scientific communication; to present the results of their studies in the national and foreign languages (English).
PLO 3. To implement the modern methods and techniques, namely informational, in order to perform a successful and effective professional activity and guarantee the quality of research in a applied linguistics field.
PLO 4. To assess and analyze critically the vital social, individual and professional issues and offer tactics of their solution, in difficult and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 5. To find optimal ways of effective interaction in the professional community and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels.
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotional, logical means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize a successful communication.
PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify various schools and approaches of Linguistic Studies.
PLO 8. To assess the historical legacy and new achievements of literary studies in the field of semiotics of literary text .
PLO 9. To characterize theoretical (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) principles and practical aspects of a specific Translation specialization.
PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language, interpret and carry out bilateral Ukrainian-English and Ukrainian-Russian translation of texts of different styles and genres.

Examination regulations and grading scale
The final evaluation is carried out on a single 100-point scale. Grades Excellent (90-100), Good (75-89), Satisfactory (60-74), Unsatisfactory (0-59) are assigned based on the results of exams, course work and qualification work of the master, internships. During the exam, the student receives a final score, which consists of the sum of points for the semester (maximum 60, minimum 36) and points for the exam (maximum 40, minimum 24). The grade Pass (60-100), Fail (0-59) is assigned based on the results of individual assignments, laboratory work, practical and seminar classes in the form of final control - credit. Specific measures and the scheme of assessment are set out in the work programs of academic disciplines and correspond to the principles of the assessment policy "Regulations on the organization of the educational process in KNUTS". To maintain academic integrity, participants in the educational process are guided by the norms of the "Ethical Code of the University Community".

Work placement
1) Industrial practice in editing and translation is aimed at fulfilling the professional duties of a translator, literary editor, proofreader; 2. Industrial practice in computer linguistics is aimed at fulfilling the professional duties of a programmer in the field of automatic processing of natural language. 3. Industrial practice in linguistic expertise is aimed at fulfilling the professional duties of a linguist-expert, researcher and translator in forensic expert activities. The main bases of practices: Department of International Cooperation of University; State Research Expert Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine; Kyiv Branch of Lviv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise; the Laboratory of Experimental Phonetics and the Laboratory of Computer Linguistics of the Institute of Philology; Research and Training Center for Information Technologies and Systems under NAS and MES of Ukraine), as well as bases of the student's own choice.

Graduates can carry out professional activities in the areas of professional competence: 1) philologist-researcher: to conduct fundamental and applied research; 2) philologist-expert: to conduct all types of linguistic forensic examination; 3) philologist-programmer: create software for automatic processing of natural language, web interfaces, dynamic web pages; 4) philologist-translator: provide translation services (English-Ukrainian and Russian-Ukrainian) in various spheres of social activity; 5) philologist-editor: edit and proofread texts.
