Learning outcomes
PLO 1. To assess individual academic and scientific-professional activity, to build and implement an effective strategy of self-development and professional self-improvement. PLO 2. To demonstrate an adequate level of national and foreign languages (English) mastery to perform written and spoken communication, namely in situations of professional and scientific communication; to present the results of their studies in the national and foreign languages (English). PLO 9. To characterize theoretical (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) principles and practical aspects of modern linguistics. PLO 10. To collect and systematize facts of language, interpret and carry out bilateral Ukrainian-English and Ukrainian-Russian translations of texts of different styles and genres. PLO 13. Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of general linguistics, translation studies, English and Ukrainian grammar. 2. Mastery of techniques and methods of traditional linguistic analysis of units of all levels of organization of the English and Ukrainian language system, elementary skills of mathematical and computer modeling of linguistic phenomena.
Course content
Considering translation as one of the types of interlingual and intercultural communication, the creation of a text which is communicatively equivalent to the original, the course "Translation Theory" will form students' understanding of the essence of the translator's activity in overcoming difficulties in scientific-cognitive and pragmatic aspects at the lexical, grammatical and stylistic levels. Students will have the opportunity to practically improve their skills of written and oral translation of the text, as well as master the basics of stylistic (genre), communicative-pragmatic, and gender analysis of the text, improve their knowledge and skills of translation analysis of texts of various functional styles and genres, which is one of the prerequisites for their high-quality written translation. The discipline is a compulsory academic discipline and belongs to the research component.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level evaluation of the learned material, in particular, the evaluation of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge LO 1.1-1.3), which constitutes 40% of the total grade and the evaluation of practical training - learning outcomes (skills LO 2.1- 2.2); (communication LO 3.1); (autonomy and responsibility LO 4.1), which constitutes 60% of the total grade. Types of work: Seminar class response. Interpretation and translation of texts of different genres. Test work on the translation with a translation commentary. Colloquium.
