Learning outcomes
PLO 1. Demonstrate knowledge of different legal systems; knowledge of the international legal system characteristics and the place of international law in it. PLO 2. Understand theoretical approaches of national and international law correlation and practical ways to provide their interaction. PLO 3. To make reasonable decisions in the law-making and law-enforcement fields of law, realizing their ethical consequences for different subjects of national and international commercial law. PLO 7. Determine the content and legal nature of national regulations, international treaties and other international instruments, identify conflicts between the norms of international treaties, between the norms of an international treaty and acts of national legislation, and propose ways of their solution PLO 10. Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of legal ethics and the ability to be guided by it in everyday legal activity.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
• knowledge of the basics of private international law, its principles and sources; civil law and family law. • ability to analyze and establish the content of rights and obligations of subjects of international family law in accordance with the conflict and substantive law of domestic law of Ukraine and foreign countries, international treaties and international customs; suggest ways to resolve family disputes with a foreign element; • have basic skills in analytical research of private international law systems and international private law relations, civil and family law.
Course content
The discipline "International Family Law" belongs to the list of compulsory disciplines for students majoring in "International Law" at the educational qualification level "Master" of the educational program "International Private Law" and works closely with such disciplines as Theory and Practice of International Private Law Law "," International Civil Procedure "," Dispute Resolution in Private International Law (Workshop) "," Advocacy in Ukraine and in the legal systems of other countries ", it is related to the study of a number of other disciplines, including elective components of the educational program. The subject of the discipline is the study of modern case law on the application of conflict, substantive rules of international family law.

Lectures, seminars, solving practical cases, the execution of self-study tasks; performing group tasks-simulations
Assessment methods and criteria
The discipline "International Family Law" is evaluated by a modular rating system. Current control: evaluation of work in seminars and practical classes; performing independent work; students write modular tests. Content module 1 “General provisions of international family law” (MR 1) includes topics 1–5, and content module 2 “Certain types of family relations in international family law” (MR 2) includes topics 6–9; each of the modules ends with a modular test. The form of final control in the discipline "International Family Law" is an exam. Lecture questions, questions of seminar (practical) classes, independent work are taken out on examination. The results of students' educational activity are evaluated on a 100 - point scale: 60 points - work during the semester; 40 points - exam.
