Course content
The aim of the discipline lies in forming the students’ skill to build up a holistic strategy of translation on the basis of complex treatment of the original’s interpretive accents, to faithfully render the original’s semantic versatility in translation. The course familiarizes the students with the notion “mastery of literary translation” in the light of the tasks of literary translation and basic demands that are made on a professional translator of literary texts. Delineates the specificity of conveying the poetic function of a literary text as a semantic whole that appears in result of a certain historical and cultural interpretation of the original text, gives insight into the methods that allow a translator to adequately render the in-depth semantics of poetic, prose and drama texts.
