Learning outcomes
PLO 9. To characterize the dialectal and social varieties of the Arabic language, describe the sociolinguistic situation in the countries of the Arab East.
PLO 14. To use Arabic and French in oral and written form, in various genre-stylistic varieties and registers of communication (official, unofficial, neutral) to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.
PLO 17. To collect, analyze, systematize and interpret the facts of language and speech and use them for solving complex problems in specialized fields of professional activity and/or education.
PLO 21. To apply knowledge of linguistic and regional studies of the countries of Arab East, history of relations between Ukraine and the countries of the East.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the disciplines "Oriental language: advanced level", "Theoretical grammar of the first oriental language", "Introduction to Arabic dialectology".
Course content
The purpose of the academic discipline is to form a conscious idea of students about the territorial variability of the Arabic language, taking into account sociolinguistic and linguistic aspects, to give an integrated description of modern Arabic dialects. A general sociolinguistic description of the territorial variation of the Arabic language in historical and modern planes is given, a systematic description of the phonological system and grammatical structure of the spoken Arabic language on the basis of the study of idioms representing various territorial groups of Arabic dialects is carried out, the features of the active vocabulary of the latter through the analysis of the functional load of native and borrowed vocabulary are clarified.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The discipline provides only practical classes aimed at active work of students in the classroom. Control of students' assimilation of material is carried out by means of their oral questioning and the organization of written tasks, tests, lexical dictations, independent and modular control works. Completion of homework and translation exercises is mandatory.
Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation is based on: answers in practical classes, written assignments, listening exercises - 24/40 points, modular test papers - 12/20 points. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: max. 40 / min. 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam); the exam takes place in written and oral form and includes: 1) listening task; 2) translation of the text. Students who scored less than 36 points in total during the semester are not allowed to take the exam.
