Learning outcomes
PTR 1. To freely communicate in Ukrainian and Russian languages in the professional sphere with specialists and non-specialists orally and in writing, to use those languages for effective intercultural communication organisation. PTR 7. To understand the main problems of philology and ways to solve them using appropriate methods and innovative approaches. PTR 11. To create oral and written texts of various genres and styles in Ukrainian. PTR 14. To use Ukrainian in verbal and written form, in different genre-style varieties and registers of communication (official, informal, neutral), to solve communicative tasks in everyday, social, educational, professional, scientific spheres of life.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the practical basic course of the Ukrainian language taught during studies at the preparatory department for foreign students.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to enable students to achieve an appropriate level of proficiency in the scientific style of the Ukrainian language on material close to the profile of the future speciality, to develop skills and abilities of semantic analysis of scientific texts, which will contribute to perfect language proficiency in all areas of communication; to prepare foreign students for listening to special theoretical disciplines. The discipline gives an insight into the scientific style of speech of the modern Ukrainian language, its lexical and grammatical features; introduces general scientific and special linguistic terminology, characteristic syntactic structures; aims to develop elementary practical skills necessary in communicative situations of the educational sphere of communication: for reading scientific literature in the speciality, listening and taking notes of lectures, writing scientific papers.
