Know the basics of identity theory; the conceptual framework of constructivism in International Relations; basic theoretic research of national identity; the models of political identity formation in the situational and transversal dimensions; the impact of religious identity on foreign and domestic policy of modern states; the concept of ‘gender’ and ‘gender identity’; the role of discourse in the making of a state’s identity; the foundations of modern European identity. Be able to analyse a state’s identity from the constructivist perspective; define the impact of identity on the making of national interests, the international security system, and purposes and means of international actors; distinguish the markers of national, political, religious, and gender identities and understand the interplay of these collective identities; perform the tasks of creating, distributing, and protecting information resources tailored to a given set of socially meaningful identity markers.

Full-time form

Know the theoretical basics of International Relations, foreign policy, and national security. Know mass communication and information theory. Know modern approaches to the making of a structural model of brand, image, and reputation. Master systemic methods of International Relations research. Master methods of text and discourse analysis.

Lectures, seminars, case study

1. Oral answers at seminars (individual presentations and participation in discussions): up to 30 points. 2. Two module tests (writing and presentation): up to 30 points. 3. Final evaluation (an exam in the form of a comprehensive test): up to 40 points.
