Learning outcomes
The student should know the nature of international relations and regional development, evolution and the current status of the theoretical analysis of international relations and world politics, the nature and resources of state policy in the international arena, as well as the activities of other international actors.
The student should know and understand the nature and dynamics of international security, understand the features of its provision at the global, regional and national levels, know the nature and approaches to resolving international and internationalised conflicts.
The student should know the nature of international cooperation, interrelation between the international actors, the balance of state and non-state actors in world politics.
The student should know the nature of interrelation of states and regions at the global, regional and local level.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastering of the courses “Introduction to the International Communication”, “Regional Studies”, “Diplomatic History of Ukraine”;
2) the knowledge of the theoretical basis of the international political process.
Course content
Module 1. 1.IR on the eve and during the WWI. 2.The establishment of the Versailles-Washington system of IR. 3.The Russian empire dissolution, its impact on IR. 4. IR in the period of new European balance of power (1923-1932). 5.The development of regional system in the Middle East. 6.The collapse of the Washington system. 7. Escalation of conflict in Eastern Asia (1937-39). 8. The crisis of the Versailles system (1933-37). 9. Dissolution of the Versailles system, the German hegemony in Europe. 10. IR at the beginning of the WWII, formation of ‘The Grand Alliance’. 11. The debates of the Big Three on IR regulation at the end of the war in Europe. 12. IR in Asia-Pacific during the WWII. 13. IR in Latin America.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, presentations, seminars.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of the student's activities during the seminars, individual and group papers, tests, analytical research and its presentation.
The course is taught during two semesters and consists of Module I and Module II. At the end of semester 1 the student is supposed to pass a credit. The final evaluation at the end of semester 2 is organised in a form of written exam (the maximum score for exam is 40). The student is supposed to pass the course by earning a score of 60 or higher, the maximum score is 100.
