Learning outcomes
Know the specific features, basic definitions and provisions of game theory in the context of IR forecasting, the current trends in the development of theoretical-game approach in the study of IR. Game solution concept. Understand the essence and the features of classical problems of game theory and their application in specific situations. Be able to formalize the problems of application of game theory methods in the study of IR, to adapt the classic problems of game theory to specific international political situations. Be able to form predictive trends based on the use of methods of theoretical and game modeling. Be able to develop conclusions and recommendations based on the application of methods of theoretical and game modeling. Argue orally and / or in writing the choice of the most effective concept of the decision, own conclusions on forecasts and recommendations.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- knowledge of the basics of conflict studies in IR, theory and history of IR, IR and world politics; - ability to identify and structure participants in the conflict situation in the field of policy and IR, analyze and shape the strategies of participants; - basic PC skills, search and analysis of information, prognostic and analytics methods
Course content
1. Problems of application of methods of game theory at research of IR. Specific features, basic definitions and provisions of game theory in the context of IR forecasting 2. Basic approaches to understanding the role of game theory in the political process and IR 3. Classification of games. Game decision concepts. Static and dynamic games. 4. Classic problems of game theory. The median voter theorem and the theorem on the convergence of party programs 5. Theoretical game modeling of public institutions management. Case study. 6. Theoretical game modeling of socio-political processes. Case study. 7. Theoretical game modeling of electoral processes. Case study. 8. Theoretical game modeling of international processes. Case study

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Activity and participation in the discussion and in group practical work, the quality of argumentation in the discussion; the quality of the individual task – up to 60 points. 2. Tasks for individual work (case study presentation) – up to 20 points. 3.Module control work (online testing) – up to 20 points.
