Learning outcomes
To know: the concept of public international law (international law); the features characteristic of modern international law and the main tendencies of its development; the directions of influence of international law over international relations in all their aspects; the system and structure of modern international law; the approaches of the science of international law and of international law and national law of Ukraine to the solution of the problem of relations between international and national law; the persons participating in international legal relations; the foundations of responsibility of persons under international law for breaking its rules; the principal concepts of particular branches of international law.

- To master successfully the courses: 'The History of Ukraine', 'The History of International Relations'; - to know the theory bases of state and law.
Course content
Module 1. The foundations of theory of public international law. 1. The concept of international law and the features characteristic of it. 2. The sources of international law. 3. The modern international law as a system. 4. The fundamental principles of international law. 5. The international law and the internal (municipal) law. 6. The persons (subjects) of international law. 7.The recognition and succession of states. 8. The responsibility and sanctions in international law. Module 2. The branches of international law. 9. The law of international treaties. 10. International law and human beings. 11. The principal matters of territory under international law. The internaional maritime, air and space law. 12. The law of foreign relations. The law of international organizations. 13. International law and war. 14. The peaceful settlement of disputes in international law. International criminal law.

Assessment methods and criteria
1. Answers at seminars, comments, the fulfillment of tasks for individual works:up to 30 points; 2. The quiz up to 20 points; 3. The module quiz with open questions; up to 10 points.
