Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting the study of this discipline, students must know basic information about the history and culture of Ukraine, Poland, and Europe, in particular, the development of cultural life, be able to select, process and systematize scientific sources on a specific issue, have elementary skills of referencing a scientific text.
Course content
The subject of the academic discipline "Polish Folklore" consists of basic information about the genetic affinity of Polish traditions, customs, beliefs, rites, etc. with the Slavic ones and about the differential features of Polish folklore; regional stratification of Polish folklore and the history of the development of the Polish folklore base, as well as scientific thought studying Polish folklore. As a result of studying the discipline, students should acquire the following academic competencies: to know: the genetic affiliation and the main differentiating features of Polish folklore in the circle of Slavic languages; the main periods and stages of formation of Polish folklore; the main works of outstanding scientists; historical and cultural processes and phenomena that took place during the formation and development of the Polish people, which were reflected in folklore; to be able to: work with scientific literature, analyze the stages of development of both actual folklore and scientific thought that investigates these processes; to have: a corpus of terms and definitions that make up the theoretical foundations of the discipline.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
writing theses and preparing essays and presentations; note-taking and abstracting of monographs, scientific articles, materials of scientific conferences; search for materials for the selected essay topic; study of the course material based on the monograph "SLAVIC MYTHOLOGY" by Alexander Geishtor (Translated from Polish by Serhii Girik) with answers to questions and completion of tasks after each topic.
Assessment methods and criteria
The educational discipline "Polish Folklore" is evaluated according to the ECTS system. Forms of ongoing control: evaluation of abstracts when fixing the lecture material, conducting control works at the end of each content module. Modular control: involves the assessment of current independent work (abstracts, presentations, writing abstracts of reports, abstracts of scientific articles and a control oral survey). The overall assessment for the semester consists of points obtained for classroom work, which synthesizes and independent work on the development of theoretical material during preparation to the classroom (oral answers, additions, intermediate control papers) and keeping a synopsis of primary sources. All types of work for the semester have a total of 36/80 points. points The discipline ends with a written assessment of 20 points.
