Learning outcomes
Formation of a complete system of knowledge about ancient archaeological sites of the Northern Black Sea region as a special manifestation of ancient civilization. As a result of studying the course, students should learn the main markers of the local features of the northern Black Sea ancient sites, be able to evaluate the main trends, dynamics and the main cultural and chronological stages of the development of the indicated circle of monuments; to analyze the common and distinctive features of the components of the material culture of ancient sites from various subregions of the North Pontic

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Before starting this course, students should know the general archaeological periodization of the Early Iron Age; characteristic features of the material culture of the ancient Hellenes and Romans and the main achievements of the Helleno-Roman civilization.
2. To be able to collect and interpret information about the main processes and events of the world history and the history of Ukraine, in particular - regarding the implementation of certain aspects of historical progress into specific categories of archaeological materials; apply the basic terminology and categorical apparatus of modern historical and archaeological research
3. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and handling information from various sources; critical attitude and forecasting of historical events and phenomena.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, practical, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СМ1) includes topics 1-5, content module 2 (СМ2) includes topics 6-10.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by semester points obtained from all topics of two content modules (points obtained during practical classes (oral surveys); points obtained for essays; points obtained during module control (for completing test tasks), and as well as the points obtained during the final control (exam), namely: for completing the proposed test tasks.
Assessment of students' knowledge success is carried out in two forms: semester assessment (tests, oral survey, abstract periodization table) and final assessment (exam).
The total number of points is 100 points (of which, the semester assessment is a maximum of 60 points; the final assessment (exam) is a maximum of 40 points).
