Learning outcomes
PLO 2. Work effectively with information: select the necessary information from various sources, critically analyse and interpret it, organise, classify and systematise. PLO 5. Cooperate with colleagues, representatives of other cultures and religions, supporters of different political views, etc. PLO 17. Use the first foreign language in oral and written form, in different genre and style varieties and registers of communication (formal, informal, neutral), to solve communicative problems in various spheres of life. PLO 28. Use knowledge of the history and culture of Ukraine and linguistic and cultural studies of the languages studied for the organisation of successful communication and adequate translation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Students must have successfully completed he following disciplines: Introduction to the Specialty, courses in the practice of the first foreign language, courses in translation from the first foreign language; know: basic linguistic concepts; features of semantics, structure and functioning of units of all levels of the Portuguese language; basics of communication theory; be able to: apply linguistic tools in practice; have basic skills in selecting, analyzing and interpreting linguistic facts; communicate on linguistic topics.
Course content
The aim of the discipline is to acquaint students with the state and administrative structure, physical and economic geography, nature, social and political life, history, science, language, culture and art of modern Portugal, Brazil, countries of Africa and Asia. The course is of general educational value and helps to improve practical knowledge of the Spanish language, as well as socio-cultural and linguistic knowledge. The course consists of two content modules. They are devoted to the study of the conceptual and methodological foundations of the linguistic and country studies aspect of Portuguese-speaking countries, its physical geography, culture and history of the 20th and 21st centuries, the economic geography of these countries (industry, agriculture, transport, foreign trade), political parties and trade unions, the press, radio and television. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical clases. The course ends with an exam.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities during the semester: lectures, practical classes, tasks performed in the course of independent work, namely: participation in discussions, additions; answers in practical classes; preparation and defence of presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment criteria: oral response max. 20 points, additions max. 6 points, participation in discussions max. 20 points. Preparation of the presentation max. 7 points, defence of the presentation max. 7 points. The maximum number of points during the semester is 60. The minimum is 36. The course ends with an exam - 24/40.
