Learning outcomes
After studying the course, students should learn the main provisions of the current monument protection legislation of Ukraine, the structure and spheres of responsibility of monument protection institutions; to be able to independently identify specific cases of violation of monument protection legislation and develop step-by-step plans for minimizing and compensating the damage caused, as well as to provide documentary support for these processes; to independently analyze the ways of further improvement of national monument protection legislation and institutional development in the context of world experience and guidelines of international conventions to which Ukraine has joined; to communicate about the advocacy of monument protection guidelines in the field of archaeological heritage.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. When starting to study this course, students should know the specifics of archaeological monuments of Ukraine of different cultural and chronological periods; the history of the formation of monument protection institutions in Ukraine;
2. To be able to apply the basic terminology and categorical apparatus that serve the cycle of field archaeological research and the preparation of reporting documentation for on-site archaeological and architectural-archaeological works;
3. Possess elementary research skills and independent processing of thematic literature, regulatory and instructional documents.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, practical, independent work of students, which are completed by a rating control (test) of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СМ1) includes topics 1 - 4, content module 2 (СМ2) - topics 5 - 7.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
