Learning outcomes
To form in students an idea about the algorithms of modern field archaeological research, which are applied in view of the specificity of monuments (research regions) and specific research tasks. After studying the course, students should learn the main qualification and methodical requirements for conducting certain types of field work, as well as the rules for performing such work and maintaining field documentation; to be able to determine a set of methods to be used during field research of certain types of monuments, to create ; analyze field and report documentation on the basic types of field archaeological research; acquire basic skills in performing the basic fixation procedures inherent in modern archaeological exploration and excavation.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
- to know the legal basis of archaeological activity in Ukraine; archaeological periodization, specifics of different types of archaeological monuments (immovable artifacts) and categories of archaeological finds (movable artifacts); - to be able to collect and interpret information about the main research methods in archaeology; apply basic terminology and categorical apparatus that serve the cycle of field archaeological research; - to have elementary skills of scientific research and independent study of thematic literature.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures and independent work of students, which are completed by a rating control (test) of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СМ1) includes topics 1–4, content module 2 (СМ2) includes topics 5–8.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
