Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the course, students should learn information about the main stages of the development of archaeological knowledge in Ukraine and the world; to be able to evaluate the achievements of these stages, using the principle of historicism and taking into account their importance for the further progress of the field of archaeology; independently analyze the sources necessary for studying the range of course problems; to acquire the skills of abstracting historiographic work in certain branches of archaeological research.
Form of study
Prerequisites and co-requisites
- before starting this course, students should know the main chronological eras and events in the history of mankind; the main achievements of material and spiritual culture;
- to be able to collect and interpret information about the main processes and events of world history and the history of Ukraine; apply the basic terminology and categorical apparatus of modern historical research.;
- to have elementary skills of independent search of the necessary information and a critical attitude towards it in order to form balanced conclusions based on the comparison of information from different sources;
- the specificity of the program requires the use of foreign language sources.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures and independent work of students, which are completed by a rating control (test) of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (СM1) includes topics 1 - 6, content module 2 (СM2) - topics 7 - 10.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
