Learning outcomes
The purpose of the study of radiation medicine is the formation of a complex of knowledge and skills in radiation medicine from the students. The ultimate goals of the discipline are: - to determine the etiological, pathogenetic and clinical manifestations, to diagnose acute radiation damage and to provide urgent assistance to the victims, to determine the tactics of the treatment of the affected persons exposed to ionizing radiation; -to determine the etiological, pathogenetic factors of chronic radiological lesions of people, to determine the tactics of driving the victims; - to use methods of determining the influence of small doses of radiation on the human body and to determine the means of prevention, treatment and minimization of harmful effects of radiation.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
The optimal absorption of material from radiation medicine by students of the 5th year is possible on condition of preliminary study of the corresponding sections in other departments: medical physics, genetics, biochemistry, clinical pharmacology, pathological physiology and morphology, therapy, surgery, hygiene, social medicine and health protection organization as well as other disciplines, which allow to understand the processes that occur in the human body under the influence of ionizing radiation
Course content
The program of the discipline is divided into 7 topics. The topics of the lecture course reveal the problematic issues of the relevant sections of radiation medicine. In the lecture course as much as possible use didactic means (multimedia presentations, slides, educational films, demonstration of themed patients). Lecture and practical stages of students' training consist mainly of lectures being preceded by appropriate practical classes or by one block

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Types of training in accordance with the curriculum are: a) lectures, b) practical classes, c) independent work of students. Thematic plans of lectures, practical classes, self-preparation tasks provide realization in the educational process of all topics.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current control is carried out at each practical lesson according to specific goals, during the individual work of the teacher with the student for those topics that the student is working on their own and they are not part of the structure of the practical classes. The following means of diagnostics of the level of students' training are used: testing, solving situational tasks, controlling practical skills. At each practical lesson, the student answers 20 questions (tests on the topic of practical classes, standardized questions, knowledge of which is necessary for understanding the current topic, the issue of a lecture course and independent work related to the current class, demonstrates knowledge and skills of practical skills in accordance with the topic of practical training. The form of the final control is standardized, includes the control of theoretical and practical training and is carried out in the last class on the results of training
