PLO 2. Process information effectively: collect relevant information from a variety of sources, including professional literature and electronic databases, critically analyse and interpret it, organize, classify and systematize it. PLO 17. Collect, analyse, systematize and interpret language and speech facts and use them to solve complex problems and tasks in specialized fields of professional activity and / or training. PLO 18. Have the skills to manage complex activities or projects in solving complicated problems in professional activity in translation and be responsible for making decisions under unpredictable conditions. PLO 25. To demonstrate the skills of using innovative technologies, various translation resources and translation automation tools.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the basics of English-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-English translation, have basic lexical and grammatical knowledge in the field of the English language; to be able to collect and interpret information about the phenomena and phenomena of the classical English language, the basics of English-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-English translation, to separate distinctive and universal (cross-cultural) features of national and English-speaking culture, to apply basic concepts in the analysis of English-Ukrainian and Ukrainian-English translation; plan and evaluate own work; use interactive and multimedia tools. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information management; critical attitude to the analyzed phenomena; use of foreign language professional informative sources; works with English-language texts; production of complex oral and written messages; interaction and cooperation in learning in exploratory situations.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide students with the theoretical and practical foundations of terminology and to develop students' practical skills and abilities in processing, information processing, and the application of English language terminology of various term systems: business English, legal terminology, social term system, etc. During the teaching of the course, an explanation of the application of methods of computer linguistics and translation studies is given, which is an essential preparatory aspect for the course of theory and practice of translation. The course provides an introduction to the existing common terminological systems and practical lessons on compiling terminological dictionaries, databases and working with computer systems.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, evaluation is carried out in accordance with the types of works and the form of the examination, described in clause 7.1. The credit is given based on the results of the student's work throughout the entire semester and does not include additional assessment measures. Students who scored the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "enrolled". Students who did not score the minimum positive number of points - 60 - receive - "not enrolled". Students who scored a total of less than 60 points during the semester must prepare material on the topics for which the debt arose, in the form of writing independent and laboratory works, essays, or, if necessary, write a test.
