Learning outcomes
PLO 6. To use knowledge on expressive, emotive, logical language means and speech techniques in order to achieve an intended pragmatic result and organize successful communication. PLO 7. To analyze, compare and classify different trends and schools in Linguistics. PLO 9. To characterize theoretical principles (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of the chosen linguistic specialization.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
To possess German language skills at the B2/C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and to demonstrate acquired skills using lexical and grammatical materials learned in previous courses in accordance with the educational program.
Course content
The objectives of studying this discipline are as follows: acquiring skills in critical thinking and reflective perception of media texts; stylistic analysis of the main types of media texts; analysis of various types of speech errors in oral and written media texts; editing of authorial media texts. As a result of studying this discipline, the student should have knowledge of the subject of the course and the terminology used in the discipline; the methodology for addressing media linguistics problems; the theoretical foundations of the course. The student should be able to identify the main characteristics of mass communication as a specific sphere of language functioning in mass media and media texts; analyze the functional-stylistic and communicative-pragmatic resources of contemporary media communication; identify the specificity of media texts and their main varieties, including PR, advertising, and journalistic media texts on different media platforms; evaluate the stylistic resources of language units at different levels in genre modifications of mass media; characterize the peculiarities of different contexts and texts in terms of literary language norms; determine criteria for correction and perform general editing of authorial texts in mass media. The instruction is provided through lectures, practical sessions, and independent student work. The discipline concludes with a final exam at the end of the semester.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Educational activities throughout the semester: independent work, midterm assessment, participation in practical sessions; projects, presentations.
Assessment methods and criteria
Current assessment: frontal questioning, expressing opinions on a given topic, independent work assignments, presentations, essays, summarizing and abstracting, referencing, creative assignments, module assignments. Final assessment - credit. Evaluation criteria for each form of control are given in the course program.
