Learning outcomes
Know the basic terminological and conceptual apparatus of archaeology.
Know the principles of archaeological periodization.
Know the main sources of research in archeology.
To know the main cultural and chronological periods in archaeology.
To be able to characterize (determine features that are characteristic and inherent) certain stages and cultural-chronological phenomena in archaeology.
Be able to determine and evaluate the results of the reconstruction of archaeological monuments.
To be able to determine methods of reconstruction based on archaeological data.
Be able to determine the procedures of archaeological research.
Be able to analyze the legislation of Ukraine on the protection of archaeological heritage.
To be able to find out the methods of research of cultural and chronological stages in archaeology.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. To know the main historical processes and events of world history and the history of Ukraine.
2. To be able to determine the main stages of historical events in the process of human development from the earliest times to the emergence and development of states.
3. Possess elementary skills of initial systematization and distribution of various historical sources and cultural-historical phenomena.
Course content
The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (ЗМ1) includes topics 1-5, content module 2 (ЗМ2) includes topics 6-9.
Assessment of student knowledge success is carried out in two forms: semester assessment (tests, oral survey, archaeological essay-album) and final assessment (exam).
The total number of points is 100 points (of which, the semester assessment is a maximum of 60 points; the final assessment (exam) is a maximum of 40 points).

Planned educational activities and teaching methods - lectures, practical classes, independent work, seminars.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work.
The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale.
The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are:
• complete disclosure of the issue
• the logic of presentation
• use of basic and additional literature
• analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
