Learning outcomes
To know the basic terminological and conceptual apparatus of the prehistory of America. To know the cultural and chronological periodization of the initial stages of the settlement of America. Know the main sources of research on the settlement of America. Know the main cultural and chronological periods of the settlement of America. To be able to characterize (identify features that are characteristic and inherent) cultural and chronological stages and forms of social organization during the settlement of America. To be able to define and evaluate forms of economy and life strategy in the process of settlement of America. To be able to determine the methods of research and reconstruction of the sources of settlement of America. Be able to determine the procedures for researching the sources of America's prehistory. To be able to conduct an analysis of cultural phenomena and natural and climatic changes of the stages of the settlement of America.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Before starting this course, students should know the main chronological eras and events in human history; the main achievements of material and spiritual culture. To be able to collect and interpret information about the main processes and events of world history and the history of Ukraine; apply basic terminology and categorical apparatus of modern history. Possess elementary skills of scientific research and information; critical attitude and forecasting of historical events and phenomena; the specificity of the program requires the use of foreign language sources.
Course content
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received during seminars (oral surveys); points received for completing essays; points received during module control (for completing test tasks), as well as points obtained during the final control (exam). The content of the course is divided into 2 content modules. Each content module includes lectures, seminars, independent work of students, which are completed by rating control of the level of assimilation of knowledge of the program material of the corresponding part of the course. Content module 1 (ЗМ1) includes topics 1-4, topics 5-8 are included in content module 2 (ЗМ2). Assessment of student knowledge success is carried out in two forms: semester assessment (tests, oral survey, essays) and final assessment (exam). The total number of points is 100 points (of which, the semester assessment is a maximum of 60 points; the final assessment (exam) is a maximum of 40 points).

Assessment methods and criteria
The control of the student's knowledge is carried out according to the modular rating system. The total number of student points is formed by the semester points received from all topics of two content modules (points received for modular control papers (in the form of tests); points received for completing individual tasks; points received for work in seminar classes, as well as points which are received for the final control work. The results of students' educational activities are evaluated on a 100-point scale. The criteria for evaluating a student's answer are: • complete disclosure of the issue • the logic of presentation • use of basic and additional literature • analytical reasoning, the ability to draw conclusions
