Learning outcomes
1. To know the basic concepts of translation theory; regularities and structure of the translation process; fundamental problems of translation studies, types of translation adequacy; types of lexical, grammatical and stylistic differences between English and Ukrainian; translation techniques and transformations; types of interpretation and translation; structural and lexical and grammatical features of abstract and annotative translation. 2. To be able to carry out a complete written translation of texts of journalistic, official business and scientific styles; to carry out consecutive interpretation of social, political and professional scientific information; to carry out oral abstract translation of audio texts and materials of mass media; to understand the meaning of a word in a narrow and broad context, to distinguish free phrases from established ones; to find equivalents and translate internationalisms.

- Mastering the discipline "Foreign language (English)" and the discipline "Language for special purposes» (English).
Course content
V semester Module 1 1. The subject of translation theory. Types of translation. 2. The ratio of form and content in translation. Module 2 3. Word and context. Lexical differences. 4. Grammatical differences. The words order in a sentence in translation. VI semester Module 3 5. Lexical, grammatical, stylistic transformations. 6. Non-equivalent vocabulary in translation. Module 4 7. Translation of internationalisms and terms. 8. Translation of established phrases and idioms. VII semester Module 5 9. Grammatical constructions in translation. 10. Equivalence at the superphrase level. Module 6 11. Stylistic resources of vocabulary and grammar. 12. Functional styles and criteria for assessing the quality of translation.
