Prerequisites and co-requisites
To know the the normative grammar of the ancient Greek language, the history of the ancient Greek language and literature.
Course content
Objectives of the discipline – to get familiar with the historical genesis, patterns of development and functioning, phonetic and morphological peculiarities of ancient Greek both authentic and artificial dialects for reading scientific texts and fiction. Annotation of the discipline - the discipline is aimed at the following issues: ethnogenesis of the Greek people and the main classifications of ancient Greek dialects. Phonetic and morphological peculiarities of the ancient Ionian, New Ionian and Attic dialects. Phonetic and morphological peculiarities of Dorian, Western Greek and Aeolian dialects. Phonetic and morphological peculiarities of the Koine dialect. Archaizing concept of Greek literature of the Doric tradition. Multi-genre and multi-dialect texts: reading, translation, linguistic and stylistic commentary.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, independent work, practical aessons, oral test and module test.
Assessment methods and criteria
The scores for the semester comprise the points for the mastering of the materials for the entire course. The total score for the semester consists of the points for the classwork (which provides for independent work with the theoretical materials for the classwork: blitz poll, expanded answers) and for independent work. All types of activities for the semester are estimated as follows: 60 points maximum, 36 points minimum. Final assessment: exam. Maximum number of points for exam is 40, minimum number of points is – 24 points (which is 60% for the maximum score in exam);The following learning results are estimated during the exam: LR 1.1-1.9; LR 2.1-2.4; LR 3.1-3; LR 4.1-4.; exam consists of two open-ended questions (theoretical and practical), 20 points for each one.
