Learning outcomes
PLO3. To use foreign sources when performing tasks of scientific research and applied activities, to express oneself in a foreign language, both orally and in writing.
PLO4. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and systematic understanding of concepts, both from the field of social work and from other fields of social sciences and humanities.
PLO10. Analyze the social and individual context of the problems of an individual, family, social group, community, plan early intervention.

PLO19. Analyze and identify resilience resources at the individual, group, and community levels in times of crisis and emergency, and empower social work clients to use resources to overcome the consequences of traumatic events and crises.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge and understanding of the limits of the professional activity of a social worker, psychologist, psychotherapist, the content and functions of the professional activity of a social worker in the field of mental health, the peculiarities of ethics and psychology of relations with clients of social work.
Course content
The discipline is designed to expand the limits of the social worker's competencies in the practice of performing professional tasks in the field of mental health. The discipline contains three modules. The first module is devoted to the development of self-reflection, awareness of one's own advantages and limitations in working with clients in the field of mental health, as well as personal and professional values. The second module reveals the theoretical foundations of supportive therapy and psychoeducation, the basic principles, and tools of supportive therapy. The third module introduces the skills of recognizing the client's symptoms of anxiety, depression, self-destructive behaviour, which are «markers» of mental health problems and require intervention. As part of the module, students learn psychoeducational strategies as an effective tool for teaching clients and loved ones about mental health and self-help (mutual help) options in treatment and everyday life.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, analysis of primary sources, presentation, demonstration of skills, test assignments, case method.
Assessment methods and criteria
Oral answers (Oral answer, speech at the seminar, participation in discussions, debates): 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 – 10 max / 4 min points.
Performance of practical tasks and creative works (essay, presentation, demonstration off skills, case-study, test): 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 – 20 max / 12 min points.
Demonstration of psychoeducation- 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1 – 30 max / 20 min points.
Final assessment: exam. Completion of practical tasks, oral answers and performance of three modular control papers are mandatory for passing the exam. Students who scored a total of fewer points than the critical and calculated minimum - 36 points - are not allowed to take the exam.
The exam is conducted in writing. The maximum number of points for the exam is 40.
The maximum number of points during the semester is 60 points, and the minimum number of points is 36.
