Learning outcomes
PLO 4. Evaluate and critically analyze socially, personally and professionally significant problems and propose ways to solve them in complex and unpredictable conditions, which requires the use of new approaches and forecasting.
PLO 7. Analyze, compare and classify different directions and schools in linguistics.
PLO 9. Characterize theoretical foundations (concepts, categories, principles, basic concepts, etc.) and applied aspects of Hindi philology.
PLO 13. Explain the essence of specific philological issues, one's own point of view on them and its justification in an accessible and reasoned manner to both specialists and the general public, in particular to students.
PLO 16. Use specialized conceptual knowledge from the field of Hindi philology to solve complex tasks and problems, which requires updating and integrating knowledge, often in conditions of incomplete/insufficient information and conflicting requirements.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the courses "Practical Course of Hindi", "Theoretical Grammar of Hindi", "Lexicology of Hindi", "Stylistics of Hindi", "Oral and Ancient Sanskrit Literature", "Evolution of Genres and Styles of Classical Indian Poetry", "Medieval Hindi Literature".
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of linguistics and literary studies from the course "Introduction to Linguistics", "Introduction to Literary Studies".
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to familiarize graduate students with the basic techniques and methods of modern linguistic and literary analysis of Eastern languages and literature, which students need to write bachelor's and master's theses. Specific examples demonstrate the technique of analyzing linguistic units in modern linguistics, reveal the specifics of applying various approaches to the analysis of linguistic units and speech phenomena, and also introduce students to theoretical research in the field of literary studies.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures and seminars: theoretical training and practical analysis.
Independent work: preparation of essays, presentations and work with dictionaries.
Methods: analysis exercises, discussions, creative and research tasks.
Control: tests, modular works and exam.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment includes semester control (60%) and exam (40%). Methods: Oral answers and discussions (up to 20 points); Tests, essays and presentations (10 points each); Modular works (20 points). Criteria: 90–100: excellent, deep knowledge; 75–89: good, minor errors; 60–74: satisfactory, inaccuracy. Admission to the exam — from 36 points.
