Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of characteristics of the communication culture and possession of skills of interpersonal and professionally-oriented interaction. Understanding of the importance of psychology and pedagogy both as a science and practice for future professional and personal life.
Course content
The purpose of the discipline is to provide students with knowledge about the fundamental principles and laws of psychology; to lay the foundations for understanding the patterns of individual behavior and the practical use of acquired knowledge for professional activity, personal development and life activity, taking into account the age stages of personality development. The course consists of two parts. The first one reveals the main categories and concepts of psychology; history of development of psychological knowledge; methods of psychology; patterns of cognitive, emotional and volitional processes and mental states of the individual; opportunities to apply psychological knowledge in professional activities. The second one covers the subject of pedagogical psychology; ontogenesis of the child’s mind and the impact of various activities on its development. Particular attention is paid to the formation of psychological culture, mastery of professional skills.

Lectures, independent work Learning self-study (essay and presentation), practical task (case study). Teaching methods include lectures and students’ self-study.
Assessment methods and criteria
Form of the final control – credit. Oral answer (min 3x6 = 18, max 5x6 = 30), additions at seminars (min 1x5 = 5, max 2x5 = 10), participation in discussions and debates at the lectures (min 2x6 = 12, max 3x6 = 18), essay (lecture module) (min 13, max 22), final test (min 12, max 20). The semester number of points is formed by the points obtained by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points obtained for classroom work (oral presentations, additions and participation in discussions at lectures and seminars) and for independent work (essays). All types of work for the semester have in the end: a maximum of 80 points, a minimum of 48 points. 0-59 - fail. 60-100 passed.
