PLO1. To demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge in psychology, pedagogy, fundamental and applied sciences (according to the subject specialty) in practical situations of educational activities, to deepen knowledge in the subject area. To name and describe the main principles, functions, contemporary forms, and methods of managing educational activities, demonstrate the ability to plan and manage educational activities, ensure and evaluate their quality. Prerequisites and co-requisites
The complex final exam is designed to assess the knowledge and skills acquired by graduates during their Master’s programme in specific fields of study. Students must: be familiar with the theoretical foundations of didactics and educational theory in secondary and higher education, the psychological characteristics of secondary school pupils and students in higher education institutions;the theoretical foundations of organising the teaching of the Ukrainian language and literature in secondary school; be able to apply theoretical knowledge of pedagogy, psychology and methodology for teaching the Ukrainian language and literature in secondary school; develop teaching methods for the Ukrainian language and literature in secondary school.
Course content
The content of the examination programme comprises topics and theoretical questions from the syllabi of the academic disciplines included in the study programme ‘Theory and Methods of Teaching the Ukrainian Language and Literature, and Foreign Languages in Secondary Specialised Schools’. This educational programme is designed to develop the ability to solve complex specialised tasks and practical problems in the field of secondary education, and requires master’s students to apply theories and methods of educational sciences to solve practical tasks related to the organisation of the teaching and learning process in Ukrainian language and literature in secondary schools.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
The complex final exam is conducted in written form. The examination lasts for two hours. The complex final exam consists of questions which cover three subject areas: 1) pedagogy and teaching skills (secondary school); 2) methodological principles and contemporary concepts of teaching the Ukrainian language in secondary specialized schools; 3) methodological principles and contemporary concepts of teaching Ukrainian literature in secondary specialized schools.
Assessment methods and criteria
The structure of the complex exam paper comprises four questions: two theoretical questions designed to assess integrated knowledge of pedagogy and teaching methodologies of the Ukrainian language and literature; one practical question on teaching methodologies of the Ukrainian language; and one practical question on teaching methodologies of Ukrainian literature in secondary school. The assessment criteria are set out in the syllabus of complex final examsyllabus, available on the website of the Educational and Research Institute of Philology at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
