Learning outcomes
PLO3. Identify and describe the key principles, functions, contemporary forms, and methods of managing educational activities; demonstrate the ability to plan, manage, ensure, and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning processes. PLO28. Select appropriate methods and techniques for teaching a foreign language and for assessing students’ learning outcomes in accordance with the objectives and requirements of the educational process; evaluate and adapt teaching materials to the specific educational context, and develop instructional resources to support foreign language lessons. Prerequisites and co-requisites
I. Knowledge 1. Principles governing the teaching and educational process in lessons of Ukrainian language and literature, as well as foreign languages in school. 2. Fundamental methodological concepts and categories; knowledge of contemporary philological and didactic foundations for teaching Ukrainian language and literature, and foreign languages; understanding of modern approaches to teaching Ukrainian language and literature and foreign languages in preparation for the External Independent Evaluation. II. Skills 1. Ability to plan and organise the educational process in schools, and to manage students’ cognitive activities. 2. Proficiency in methods and techniques for assessing students’ learning outcomes; ability to provide pedagogical support and professional preparation for future teaching practice.
Course content
The aim of the course is to enhance the integral and methodological competences of master’s students by systematising their knowledge of preparation for external independent assessment and state final attestation, as well as of the methods and techniques of teaching in this context. The course also focuses on the assessment of learners’ knowledge, skills, and competences and on the development of test-based assessment tasks. Furthermore, it aims to develop and refine the general and subject-specific competences defined in the educational and research programme. Methods of Preparing Students for External Independent Assessment and State Final Attestation in Ukrainian Language, Literature, and English is an elective course within the Master’s degree programme in Field 014 Secondary Education (014.01 Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature)). The course is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to organise the teaching of the Ukrainian language and literature, as well as English, within the context of non-formal education. It develops their ability to plan the teaching process, apply appropriate instructional technologies, and design effective test-based assessment materials. The course is delivered in the third semester and carries 3 ECTS credits (a total workload of 90 hours, including 28 contact hours: 14 hours of lectures and 14 hours of practical classes, and 62 hours of independent study). The course is completed in the third semester with a pass/fail assessment. During the semester, the course comprises two content modules and four projects. The principal forms and methods of instruction include lectures, heuristic discussion, class discussion, independent study, and project-based learning.

The principal forms and methods of instruction include lectures, heuristic discussion, class discussion, independent study, and project-based learning.
Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment throughout the semester is carried out in accordance with the types of coursework and forms of assessment as follows: preparation and presentation of a project (maximum 84 points, minimum 53 points); oral responses (maximum 14 points, minimum 7 points). The pass/fail assessment is awarded on the basis of the student’s performance throughout the semester and does not require any additional assessment components. Students who achieve the minimum passing score of 60 points are awarded a Pass. Students who do not achieve the minimum passing score of 60 points are awarded a Fail.
