Course content
This course introduces students of Turkic studies to Arabic and Persian loanwords in the Turkish language, as well as basic knowledge of the Persian language, for use in academic research and future professional activities. The course consists of two main parts: the first is dedicated to helping students of Turkic studies master Persian phonetics and orthography, basic Persian grammar, and develop skills in reading simple texts and writing; the second focuses on practicing lexical, phraseological, and grammatical aspects of the Persian language within the scope of topics defined by the curriculum; familiarization with linguistic clichés and the most commonly used constructions in everyday communication, including the norms of Iranian etiquette; and examination of the characteristics of the formation and adaptation of Arabic and Persian loanwords in the Turkish language.
Instruction takes the form of practical classes and includes independent work—reading texts in the original language, completing written and oral exercises and assignments, retelling texts, and independent study of vocabulary and phraseology. The course concludes with a final credit.
