Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know:
the basics of literary analysis of a literary text;
ideological, aesthetic and socio-political factors influencing the creativity of the writer and authors, the leading issues and content of those literary and critical works that
represented the most significant variants of the reception of T. Shevchenko's works.
Be able to:
formulate one's own thoughts and judgments orally and in writing based on theoretical knowledge;
analyze the genre and style features of T. Shevchenko's works of all periods of creativity;
identify the problem and thematic features of T. Shevchenko's works;
compare the positions of Ukrainian criticism of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries regarding T. Shevchenko's works
Have elementary skills:
classify literary works by subject, issue, genre; compare different views on the problems of ideology, politics, philosophy, culture, literature using the example of interpreting the work of T. Shevchenko;
apply the acquired knowledge in practice.
Course content
The discipline "Shevchenko's Universalism: Literary Discourse" should ensure the formation of important professional research competencies in students regarding literary interpretations of Taras Shevchenko's work, deepen their understanding of the ideological, thematic and poetic innovation of the classic of Ukrainian literature, and comprehend the level of the artist's self-awareness and the specifics of his poetic thinking based on reading and analyzing the works of modern Shevchenko scholars.

Types of work: oral response, participation in a discussion, abstract assignment, creative assignment, test.
Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system.
The semester score is formed by the points received by the student in the process of mastering the material from the entire academic course. The overall grade for the semester consists of points received for classroom work (which synthesizes both independent work on the processing of theoretical material and fiction to prepare for classroom activity: oral answers, supplements, analytical tasks, written works) and for independent work (creative work, abstract processing of primary sources for oral and written answers).
The credit is issued based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures. The final grade for the discipline (minimum 60, maximum 100 points) consists of the sum of the points for semester work (minimum 48, maximum 80 points) and test work (minimum 12, maximum 20 points).
