Learning outcomes
LO 14. Create, analyze, and edit texts of various styles and genres. LO16. Apply specialized conceptual knowledge in Turkish philology to solve complex tasks and problems requiring the updating and integration of knowledge, often under conditions of incomplete or insufficient information and conflicting requirements. LO19. Apply knowledge of translation theory and methodology, including literary translation, in practical and research activities. LO20. Master the basic methods of teaching translation from Turkish into Ukrainian and vice versa in higher education.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Know: - the interrelationships between text linguistics and other disciplines in translation studies and linguistics; - the scope of genre theories in translation; Be able to: - analyze text linguistics in terms of genre and style from the perspective of rhetoric, comparative stylistics, history of language, literature, cognitive linguistics, and other philological disciplines; - apply various types of translation transformations to translate texts belonging to different functional styles, registers, and genres; - translate texts of various genres and styles from Turkish into Ukrainian and vice versa, both orally and in writing. Possess: - proficiency in Turkish at a level sufficient to meet communicative needs and to analyze information regarding the principles and methods of translating various text genres in line with contemporary translation theories.
Course content
The course “Genre Theories of Translation (Turkish)” is one of the key components of the comprehensive training program for master’s students in the field of study “No. 035 ‘Philology’” 035.068 “Philology (Eastern Languages and Literatures, including translation), with Turkish as the primary language.” It aims to improve master’s students’ skills in researching genres, styles, and genre- and style-specific features of various text types, as well as cognitive-pragmatic approaches to text as an object of scientific research into cultural heritage information in translation from and into the Turkish language. The course is one of the components of elective block 2, “Translation Studies.” The course curriculum consists of two content modules. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars. The course concludes with an exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes (knowledge), which accounts for 40% of the total grade, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes (skills), which accounts for 60% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Work in the seminar class: 10 -15 points. 2. Supplements: 2 - 5 points. 3. Modular control work: 6 - 10 points. 4. Exam: 24 - 40 points.
