Learning outcomes
LO2. Demonstrate proficiency in the national language, Turkish, and English for written and oral communication, particularly in professional and academic contexts; present research findings in the national language, Turkish, and English. LO4. Evaluate and critically analyze socially, personally, and professionally significant issues and propose solutions in complex and unpredictable conditions, which requires the application of new approaches and forecasting. LO5. Identify optimal ways to interact effectively within a professional team and with representatives of other professional groups at various levels. LO19. Apply knowledge of the theory and methodology of translation, including literary translation, in practical and research activities.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Students must successfully complete the required courses during their previous years of study. 2. Students must be familiar with the phonetic rules, grammatical structures, and syntactic rules of the Turkish language. 3. Students must possess oral and written translation skills.
Course content
Students are introduced to the types of translation of scientific and technical texts (full written, summary, annotation, selective consultative translation, consecutive and simultaneous translation). The specific use of lexical resources in scientific and technical texts is examined. Attention is focused on the translation of simple, complex terms, and term-phrases. The peculiarities of translating proper names and titles are examined. Particular attention is paid to lexical-semantic transformations during translation and the grammatical features of scientific and technical texts. Students acquire the skills to perform written and oral translation scientific and technical literature, educational scientific and technical literature, and popular science literature from various fields of technology; technical and supporting documentation, design and patent documentation; they learn consecutive and simultaneous interpretation of television news and reports on scientific and technical topics. Classes are conducted in the form of practical sessions. The course concludes with a final exam.

Assessment methods and criteria
Knowledge control is carried out according to the ECTS system, which provides for a two-level assessment of the material learned, in particular, the assessment of theoretical training - learning outcomes, which accounts for 50% of the total grade, and the assessment of practical training - learning outcomes, which accounts for 50% of the total grade. Assessment of semester work: 1. Oral response (interpretation): 6 - 10 points. 2. Written scientific article: 12 - 20 points. 3. Translation of the proposed video material on a scientific topic: 6 - 10 points. 4. Control work: 12 - 20 points. 5. Exam: 20 - 40 points.
