Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the cycle of theoretical and practical professional training modules taught at Bachelor’s level and in the first year of the Master’s programme, including ‘Linguistic Textology and Communication Practices’, ‘Contrastive Linguistics and Translation’ The ability to gather and interpret information on the given topics, identify relevant aspects of linguistic and communicative phenomena and classify the collected facts, apply the acquired conceptual and terminological framework in the analysis of speech material and during teaching; plan and evaluate one’s own work; use multimedia resources. Possession of skills in scientific research, information retrieval, and a critical approach to the phenomena under analysis; interaction and cooperation in learning in research-oriented situations.
Course content
The aim of the course is to familiarise future philologists with the fundamental theoretical principles of contemporary media linguistics and promotional communication practices, and to develop the skills and abilities required to analyse and produce relevant linguistic material, particularly for teaching purposes, through the study of the fundamentals of language teaching. Its subject matter comprises the theoretical foundations of contemporary media linguistics, the forms and means of communicative organisation of promotional activities in the professional field, and the fundamentals of language teaching research. The course is designed to provide students with a basic understanding of the characteristics of media communication and to equip them with practical skills for professional practice in the field of media and promotional practices in language teaching.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment takes place throughout the semester in accordance with the types of work and forms of assessment described in section 7.1. A pass mark is awarded based on the student’s performance throughout the semester and does not require any additional assessment. Students who have achieved the minimum passing mark of 60 points receive a ‘pass’. Students who have not achieved the minimum passing mark of 60 points receive a ‘fail’. Students who have scored a total of less than 60 marks over the semester must, in order to pass the course, cover the material on the topics where they are behind by writing independent assignments, essays or, if necessary, a test.
