Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of general education modules (‘Methodology and Organisation of Research with an Introduction to Intellectual Property’; ‘Professional and Corporate Ethics’; ‘Features of the Contemporary French-Language Literary Process’) and professional disciplines (‘Linguistic Textology and Communicative Practices’; ‘Contrastive Linguistics and Translation’; ‘Theory of the English Language’), taught over two semesters of the Master’s programme. Students must possess basic research skills, a critical approach to the phenomena under examination, and the ability to use professional foreign-language sources; they must also be able to plan and evaluate their own work.
Course content
The course ‘Research Practice (French)’ is included in the list of compulsory courses and is delivered as a block-release module during the second semester of the Master’s programme, lasting six weeks (180 hours in total) and is worth 6 credits – in accordance with the curriculum of the educational and research programme ‘French-Speaking Studies and Translation, English’. Its aim is to deepen students’ skills in independent academic work, broaden their academic outlook, explore practical issues and develop the ability to link these to their chosen theoretical research focus, and to define the structure and logic of their future Master’s thesis. The course aims to consolidate theoretical knowledge in the field of Francophone linguistics and translation, and to master modern methods and forms of research activity; it develops practical skills and abilities in the course of professional practice.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Training sessions, individual assignments, conference presentations, writing academic papers, and preparing and defending a practical training report.
Assessment methods and criteria
Following the research practice, a differentiated credit assessment is conducted in the presence of the examination board members. The assessment is based on a written report, a practice diary and a review by the practice supervisor. The mark is determined taking into account the timely submission of the necessary internship documents, the quality of the report, the completion of the individual assignment, the student’s level of knowledge and the quality of their presentation, using a four-point grading scale and the ECTS scale, which characterises the student’s academic performance.
